Capezio 5930 & 26 Comparison Review - by Jordan

Dance belts are an evolving undergarment. We’re Men, we demand certain things out of our support. The company that I find has the best dance belts is Capezio. Every male dancer has their own preferences of how they want their dance belts to fit. Capezio has found a happy medium with their Quilted and Cotton dance belts.  Both are supportive and comfortable, but each is best for a different purpose. Wait… Different uses demand different dance belts? Yes!

Capezio Quilted (N5930) Pros:
The quilted gives the ultimate support & coverage, and is well built with strong stitching & durable elastic. This dance belt is perfect for a pas de deux class, or a jumping & tricks class. The elastic grips well and holds everything in place. The quilted support, if sized correctly, lifts and holds regardless of your movement.  The quilted dance belt gives you a nice shapeless round bulge. This makes for a nice clean look that is adored by most fans.

Quilted Cons:  Comfort depends on the elastic that Capezio has used to make the dance belt. I have run into some Quilted dance belts with extremely tough and rough elastic. This does not make for a comfy wear. The Quilted can be a bit bulky depending on what type of shorts or tights you wear. I usually wear the Quilted under thicker fabrics.  For those of us who have well developed butts, that square shape we love can push the elastic up and cause an uncomfortable pull on the thong if the dance belt doesn’t fit correctly.  If the belt is too large, you may experience some uncomfortable drooping or a pushing down feeling. If you have a bit of a muffin top, the elastic on this dance belt folds over, and you will have to continually unroll it.

Capezio Cotton (N26) Pros:The Cotton Dance belt is the perfect combination of medium support and comfort. It is not designed to be as heavily supportive as the Quilted. This dance belt is perfect for costumes that require you to be seamless. This item is perfect for wearing under thin tights and unitards.

I am currently in rehearsal for a contemporary ballet where I don’t stop dancing for 45 minutes. And guess what I have to wear for the ballet.  - Yes, a unitard, which reveals exactly what you are wearing under it. This dance belt is my choice for its support and non-bulky look. The Cotton model is definitely softer than the quilted. The audience will see more of the shape of your business through this dance belt.

Cotton Cons:
The height of the waist band on the Cotton is substantially smaller than the quilted. It doesn’t allow for as much cover. The support is greatly sacrificed compared to the Quilted. I would not recommend this belt for a pas de deux class, but for a well-rehearsed performance it should be fine.  The pouch fabric is not very thick, making the shape of your package obvious, which isn’t what we normally attempt to show.  But, all in all, this can be more flattering in the long run.
