THE FUTURE - Whats ahead for this website?

For more than a decade, Dr. Dancebelt’s Guide has been the premier website for information about dance belts.  During this time dance belts have become more common as the number of male dancers increases, and cosplayers and athletes have learned of their benefits.  It always scores highly in search engine rankings and earns favorable comments in other forums.  It has been a pleasure to provide this needed information.

However, it may be time for a change:

-  The Doctor has retired from both ballet performing and teaching.  The first due to advancing age, the second due to the studio where I taught closing its doors.

-  The pandemic has caused the corporate angels who paid for website hosting to rethink their commitment.  The Doctor is now personally paying the hosting fees, which while not crazy expensive, are more than a retired dancer’s budget allows.

-  The Doctor is no website genius.  This site was created using Karelia Software’s program “Sandvox”, which has been abandoned and not updated for a couple years.  That means the website hasn’t been optimized for mobile devices and the Forum and Contact Me functions no longer work.  Frankly, learning a new web software program and getting Dr. D.’s Guide up and running on it is near the bottom of the list of things I want to do with my day.

It seems a shame to just shut down the site.  Maybe a GoFundMe campaign might raise enough money to pay the hosting bills and inspire me to continue as webmaster.  Alternatively, perhaps some qualified organization or person might be interested in taking it over.

I’d be interested in hearing any thoughts members of this community might have.  Please contact me: Doc (at) Dancebelt (dot) Info
